Vehicle Overview
Chevrolet's Malibu midsize sedan was redesigned last year and received new engine choices, a fresh appearance and a selection of new safety and entertainment features — and sales fell. That prompted Chevrolet to make significant changes for 2014. The Malibu has seating for five and competes with the Ford Fusion, Honda Accord, Toyota Camry and Nissan Altima. A mild hybrid version dubbed Malibu Eco is also offered.

New for 2014
The base 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine adds fuel-saving stop-start technology that shuts the engine off when the car is stationary, like at a stoplight, and restarts it when the driver lifts off the brake pedal. The available turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder now makes 295 pounds-feet of torque, up from 260 pounds-feet of torque last year.
Other changes include new front styling that incorporates a larger grille, redesigned front and rear seats that yield an additional 1.25 inches of rear legroom, and suspension revisions for a more refined driving experience. A blind spot warning system and rear cross-traffic alert are newly available safety features.
